Prepare for an enriching career with our Counselling Certificate Program. Our Life Skills Counselling Certificate program provides you with training in counselling techniques for employment counselling, youth counselling, family counselling, trauma counselling and addiction counselling.

This program focuses on developing the listening and communication skills necessary to counsel individuals facing obstacles in their personal lives. This certificate program also focuses on personal development and self-reflection, allowing you to be a more effective counsellor to yourself and to others.

This program supports you to make powerful changes in your own life before you assist others to make positive transformations in their lives.

Earn Your Life Skills Counselling Certificate &  Be Prepared to Launch Your Career

Our Life Skills Counselling Certificate program is taught using experiential learning techniques. Through real practice with real clients, during clinic weeks, you will gain experience in the community and increase your confidence and competence. Clinic weeks also offer students the opportunity to explore career opportunities and self-development through counselling.

The core of the Life Skills Counselling Certificate program is the Basic Counselling Skills course. It is the perfect supplement for our Life Coach Certificate graduates wishing to further their education. It is also ideal for new students as well, as it provides an introduction to counselling in an applied setting.

The program’s structured professional curriculum is divided into academic and experiential components. You are exposed to a wide range of counselling theories and have immediate “hands-on” opportunities for practice. We also stress the importance of each student’s personal development as a counsellor. This provides you an opportunity to assess your own interpersonal abilities to better counsel yourself and others.

Note that this counselling program is an introduction to counselling only. To further advance your life coaching training, we recommend our Life Coach Diploma program which includes a supervised work practicum. For comprehensive counselling training, we recommend our Professional Counsellor Diploma program so you can register for membership in the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association.

The Life Skills Counsellor Certificate provides you with opportunities to deepen your life coaching practice, improve your own life and become an extremely skilled coach and counsellor. This program is designed for life coaches, and social service workers wishing to improve their skill set and scope of practice. It provides an online overview and practice of basic counselling concepts.

Graduate Outcomes

After successfully finishing the program, our alumni consistently demonstrate a track record of success, transitioning into roles as life coaches, or counsellors. Many move on to further study or set up their own coaching or counselling businesses.
