Life Coach Jobs

Prospective students frequently ask about the availability of jobs for life coaches. If you are interested in a job as a life coach, you must undertake suitable training. Rhodes College is approved as an institution to offer Life Coach Specific Training Hours as required by the International Coach Federation ( www.coachfederation.org). The ICF outlines 11 “core competencies” required to be demonstrated before someone is qualified to become a life coach. These include deep listening, asking powerful questions, and subscribing to a code of ethics.

A Life Coach can obtain work in the social services sector. Rhodes College graduates work in a variety of areas including work with women, youth, and disadvantaged populations. The job prospects are increasing in other areas as well. Life coaches can work within organizations to assist with staff development. Many coaches are now specializing in working with business coaching, seniors (a growing niche with the aging population), relationships, and many other specialties.

Life coaching jobs can also involve setting up a private practice. The good news is that the hourly wage for life coaches in private practice is excellent. Most coaches charge between $60 and $120 per hour. If you have your own practice, however, some of these funds must go toward your business operations – phone, web site, marketing, etc. We advise our coaches-in-training to have another source of income as building up a successful practice takes time.
